Rights Respecting

What are children’s rights?

The UNCRC sets out our human rights as children. The convention includes 54 rights that cover different aspects of our lives like our home and family, our culture and religion, our educational and social development, and our safety. Every article is as important as the other and every child should enjoy these rights.

Why do we need a Rights Respecting group?

Adults and children must work together to make sure every member of our school enjoys their rights. As a Rights Respecting school, our group wants to teach others in our school about their rights and find ways for children in our school to enjoy their rights so that “Together We Thrive”.

What we want to achieve this year:

  • Find exciting ways to teach others in school about their rights (Article 42)

  • Make sure our rights are on display around the school (Article 29)

  • Hold a jumble sale to sell secondhand uniform (Article 27)

  • Provide chances to use their languages and share their culture or religion in school (Article 14 & 30)
