School of Sanctuary

Our School of Sanctuary Journey

This year, our school is working towards earning School of Sanctuary status. As you may know, Swansea is a City of Sanctuary, and Parkland has made a pledge to work towards the award.

What is a School of Sanctuary?

A School of Sanctuary is a school that has pledged to be a be a place of welcome and safety for those seeking sanctuary. This includes asylum seekers, refugees, and of course any new arrivals to our school community.

Why do we want to become a School of Sanctuary?

Our school vision is ‘Together We Thrive.’ So we think this means that everyone in our school community deserves the chance to be the best they can be no matter their background. By working towards the award, we can make sure that our school makes every effort to remove any barriers for Sanctuary Seekers when they arrive.

What are we doing to earn the award?

To earn the award, our school must have evidence that we...

LEARN about Sanctuary Seekers’ and their experiences...

...EMBED an ethos of welcome...

And SHARE our work with our community.

We will post updates on the website and ClassDojo to share our journey with you and welcome your support or ideas to help us on our way.
