June 2021

Dear parents/carers,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for choosing Parkland Primary School for your child’s education. For those of you who do not already have children in Parkland, we lay a great emphasis on the partnership we have with you. We place your child’s happiness at the heart of all we do and strive to make sure your child feels happy, safe and secure in school. This will enable your child to focus directly on learning and socialising - developing the life skills they need to thrive in school and beyond. Usually, a little earlier in this term we would have held a meeting to provide information about the school with parents and carers having an opportunity to ask questions and have a look around. As this has not been possible we have prepared a virtual intake meeting to provide you with information about the Parkland Primary. Please follow the link from this letter or on the school website.

The school’s prospectus can also be found on the website should you wish to look at this.

The whole virtual meeting is set out through an Adobe Spark presentation which contains a series of videos and a verbal recording of the written material, should you prefer to listen to the information rather than read it. As a whole, the virtual meeting takes some time to read and view and you may want to return to it at different times. When you click on the link and load the presentation, please scroll down. Within the presentation you will find a series of videos and additional presentations. We have aimed to use a variety of formats, to make the experience a little more varied.

School will return on Monday, September 6th 2021, as Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd September will be InSET days. We have your email addresses and/or telephone numbers and will contact you via these means to provide you with information regarding the beginning of the new academic year, so please check for messages. We will also send you information regarding which classroom to take your child to, on what date and the times. Included will be a plan of the school, to help you navigate your way around the site. When you arrive at the school on the first day, you will see that every classroom entrance will have a sign, detailing the classteacher’s name, with a photograph on, along with the names and photographs of all staff who work within the class and year group. Additionally, we will have staff outside on the first  morning, checking parents/carers make it to the correct classrooms. Please do not worry, we are very used to this and understand how to make it run smoothly.

If you have any additional questions regarding the school please attend our virtual meet and greet sessions. This will give you the opportunity to meet the headship team and staff from reception, nursery and Oaktree nursery. The meeting will take place on Teams and can be accessed on the following date and times using the links below:

All of us in Parkland look forward to welcoming you to the Parkland family and community. I look forward to meeting you next year. You will probably see me during ‘drop off’ and ‘pick up’ as I am often outside to answer any questions and having chats with children and parents/carers.

I would like to use this opportunity to wish you all well and extend a very warm welcome to Parkland. I hope you have a good summer and are able to take some time to have a rest.
